I am the former chief operating officer of ChaCha and Ontario Systems. My time at Ontario Systems was one of the most challenging and rewarding of my career. While most firms struggled to survive, Ontario Systems gained new financial strength and improved its competencies, investing big in R&D, innovation and people. The business reengineering and turnaround of this enterprise software and professional services company was a great team effort. The 'Rapid Transformation' process pulled everyone together and we focused on establishing a new corporate strategy, business and operating models, talent strategy and product and technology strategies that would drive the next stage of the company's growth. We made compliance and innovation key strategic drivers and invested big in products. Transitioning to an all new Cloud, SaaS and SOA strategy helped us create compelling new products. We established deeply strategic partnership with Microsoft which increased innovation. The company was a finalist for Innovation of the Year Mira award at TechPoint. Microsoft wrote a case study on our partnership with them and presented interviews during one of the keynote addresses at the 2010 Microsoft World Partner Conference.
At Microsoft I worked on the v1 Windows Workflow team on .NET 3.0. I also directed a large portfolio of product development initiatives including BizTalk Server, Host Integration Server, Active Directory and important messaging, app server and modeling technologies.
I founded the award winning ISV Sapago. Our RFID based technologies and products pre-dated Quick Response code (QR) smart phone apps, enabling consumers to access and share product information, opinions and suggestions on products in stores. We won the "CRN/Microsoft Best of Show" award at the Microsoft Worldwide Partner Conference and was named one of "5 Gadgets Your Business Can't Live Without" by The Crafts Report. These products were featured in Internet Retailer, RFID Journal and Retail Bulletin, among others.
I served as chief technology officer of Ecometry Corporation which we successfully grew and then sold to Golden Gate Capital. That acquisition allowed us to start a string of acquisitions including GERS and Blue Martini Software that has created a powerhouse in the space, Escalate Retail which was bought this year by Red Prairie. I have appeared on the CNN show, Global Office. That interview focused on the changing role of technology executives and their representation on corporate boards and planning committees. In August 2010 I also conducted a webinar for ExecSense on writing tips for Chief Technology Officers.
